Sometimes bad things just happen. Floods, fires, earthquakes, and while these things are terrible, as business owners we must think… How can we support those who have suffered while also helping ourselves?

It’s often for birthday programs and special offers that we give away a free cocktail to get people to come into our venue. Why not get them to buy the cocktail and donate all the money to a worthy cause? You will be raising vital funds for those suffering, there’s potential to get some great press around your social responsibility, and you will be encouraging people to come into your venue.

This concept works on two fronts, both psychologically where people feel good about your venue and are more likely to come in, and they have bought a voucher to receive a cocktail so they are incentivised to visit. You could even frame it as a gift so they get the added benefit of virtue signaling.

Below are some other things you can do:

​​​​​​​​​​1. Send a blast to your channels (database and social media) to encourage people to donate
2. Contact other local businesses and hold a charity dinner for the cause at your venue
​​3. Donate a dinner for someone who is holding a charity event
4. Generate a charity voucher where for every X value is purchased, X value is donated
