Spring Dining Trends 2024

Sydney’s hotting up this month and so is our dining scene. Here’s a peek at our top five dining trends for Spring 2024.

1. The Power of Comfort

The rise of nostalgic dining is about more than just prawn cocktails and 80s jukebox hits (although we love both)—it's tapping into a desire for comfort and familiarity. Venues like Teddy, Potts Point are leading the charge with playful, retro menus and unpretentious dining experiences.

We love how Teddy has well and truly maximised the impact of their messaging by highlighting the ‘feel-good’ factor, and using language that evokes friendly, familiar vibes like their ‘Let us buy you dinner?’ birthday programme.

2. Conscious Consumers

We don’t need to tell you that Sydney is a city of dietaries. With the number of concious foodies rapidly growing, veggie dining is no longer confined to explicitly vegetarian venues. Even steakhouses like The Gidley are catering to all with a boujie Lion’s Mane Mushroom steak with green peppercorn sauce and onion rings. When we asked our office vego’s their top restaurants, we were surprised to find many of them were not exclusively vego at all.

Tap into this market by emphasising inclusivity and variety in your messaging. Show off your flexi-friendly options, and don’t be afraid to highlight them in your comms. Having a strong, adaptable menu can expand your customer base.

3. Bougie Buns

Burgers are booming, with venues like Clam Bar and The Charles making them a cornerstone of their menus. For marketers, this is gold. Burgers sell well, but they can also sell your venue when crafted with flair.

4. Cozzie Livs

As diners remain price-conscious, affordability is key. Special menus and approachable pricing are being embraced, making high-end dining accessible to a wider audience.

Messaging should emphasise value without compromising quality to attract customers looking for high-end flavour at a fair price. The White Horse’s hugely applauded reopening earlier this year is a testament to Sydney’s hunger for a thrifty feed with their 8-course set menu coming in at 85PP.

5. Hotel Dining Renaissance

2022 saw Chef Luke Mangan move into Kimpton Margot Sydney, last year Mitch Orr made headlines taking up residence at The Ace Hotel, Sydney’s fave seafood spot Saint Peter just found a shiny new home at The Grand National Hotel in Paddington, and the legends at Liquid & Larder have just announced their residency at The EVE Hotel. Sydney is in it’s hotel dining era and our palates are captivated.
